Vintage Casa Maya Mid-Century Modernist Huge Monkey Pendant Necklace

This marvelous piece of jewelry is from Casa Maya in Mexico City. It is a mid-century modernist monkey pendant necklace done in mixed metals—hammered copper, brass, and perhaps silver. The monkey is raised on the pendant’s platform. The necklace is in wonderful condition. There is a tiny amount of verdigris on the monkey’s tail; no attempt has been made to remove it. The pendant is simply marked MEXICO on the back. The necklace chain is infinity link with a hook-and-eye closure. The pendant measures 2-13/16” x 2-1/4”. The chain is 27” long.
